There should be a rule.
If anyone has had strep throat you know it can range from a very mild case to feeling like you are on your deathbed. Well, let me put it this way, every single time I get strep I feel like I am on my deathbed! Kenny woke up on Wednesday morning with a fever so he decided to work from home. My oldest son woke up Wednesday morning with a sore throat. He had no other symptoms, no fever, nothing. I'm kind of a hard-nosed parent when it comes to skipping school, so I made him get dressed and go to school. I met a friend for breakfast that day and felt totally fine until that evening. I always know I'm getting sick when my hair hurts and my skin hurts. It didn't take me long to figure out what it was. Unfortunately, I know the symptoms very well. By Thursday morning, I was miserable. Kaden woke up feeling fine and not complaining of a sore throat, so I sent him off to school and made a doctor's appointment for myself. Sure enough, the strep test came back positive! I felt certain that Kenny had strep throat also, even though he had forced himself to go to work that day. Thankfully, the doctor was willing to write prescriptions for both of us. When I left the doctor's office that day I had a nagging feeling that Kaden may have strep too, even though he didn't have many symptoms. So, I called to get him an appointment also....and in case you are wondering, no they won't just call in a prescription even though there has been a positive strep test for the mother in the family who is too sick to bring her son into the office. No exceptions. BLAH! :( So, thankfully my father-in-law was willing to take him to the doctor for me. Just as we suspected, the strep test was positive for Kaden also. By Friday, I was pretty much incapacitated on the couch and Kenny was pretty useless on the recliner, while the 3 kids ran circles around us! Somehow my house managed to go from clean to trashed over a matter of 24 hours! Kenny's parents stepped in to help out as much as they could, which was a blessing. But, any meals the kids had while at home consisted of whatever they could get out of the pantry by themselves...goldfish, poptarts, oatmeal creme pies....There should definitely be a rule that both parents should NEVER be sick at the same time! Whew, I'm glad that's over!

Trying to pick up the habit! No, not cigarettes...
Ok, so it's been a couple months since I have written anything on my blog. Several major things have been blog worthy, but I just haven't managed to take the time to write about them. Imagine that. Me, a mother of 3 kids, throw Christmas into the mix, and a week off from school due to snow, but somehow I can't find the time to write my blog! Go figure.
Anyway, to back peddle a little bit, ok A LOT, I want to tell you about a hard lesson I learned right before Christmas. Wii remote straps are there for a reason! Mothers should remind 4 year old boys with wii remotes to wear the strap. This mother learned the hard way that wii remotes crack glass. Cracked glass on a plasma tv turns the screen black. Broken plasma tvs cost more to fix than to buy new. And last but not least, insurance plans bought with the tv do not cover accidents. Very, very hard lesson learned.
And, for anyone who *might* read this blog. I promise to keep up with it more often!!! I really do enjoy writing it, I just need to make a habit of it! :)
